I Voted For Obama

I voted today in New York City and I voted for Barack Obama. It wasn’t an easy decision and one that constitutes where I am today, not an endorsement. As anyone who’s been reading this blog knows, I’ve been highly critical of both Obama and Hillary Clinton most of the time and I expect that I will continue to be until one of them convinces me that I should be proactively supporting their candidacy in whatever way I can.

I’ve been trying to write a longer post explaining my thinking and the circumstances of my vote for the last hour. I’m completely unhappy with all of the drafts that I’ve written. I might take another crack tomorrow, but for now, this is all I’ve got.

  1. Just logged onto you website to see what you posted today and found this one. Interesting. Last evening I heard Dodd say to vote for one of the people running, and not him.
I too wound up voting for Obama. Not because I have been impressed by him, I’m still waiting.
But because voting for a black man seemed like a very cool thing. Though many people say race isn’t the issue; afterwards I felt the historic moment to be able to vote for a black man and realized it was part of the issue for me.

  2. Yes, Dodd did tell his supporters not to vote for him. Honestly I had a very strong desire to vote for Dodd yesterday.

Democrats are very lucky to have two remarkable, historic candidates. It’s about time we have either a woman or a black man in the White House.
